Hosting and access data
The website and the web app run on our own server in Germany and are delivered through the network of Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you open a page, the server and Cloudflare process technically necessary connection data (IP address, time, requested page, browser identification) to deliver the page and protect it from attacks. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Server logs are rotated daily and deleted after two weeks. Product photos in the hardware section are loaded from Amazon's image server (m.media-amazon.com), so Amazon receives the technical connection data for those images.
Cookies and storage
The website sets no cookies. Whether you closed the affiliate notice is kept in your browser's local storage. There are no tracking or analytics cookies. The web app keeps its settings, calibrations and recordings in your browser's local storage and IndexedDB. None of this is sent to us.
Affiliate links (Amazon)
Shop links on espsoup.com are affiliate links. They first go to a short redirect on our server (/go/…), which logs the time, the country reported by Cloudflare, the product slot and the referring page, but no IP address, to count clicks. Amazon may then set cookies on its own site to attribute a purchase. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Amazon's privacy notice applies on amazon.de / amazon.com.
The ESPsoup web app
- USB / Web Serial: the browser asks you before the app can open your ESP32. The radio data is processed only in your browser.
- Location: only asked when you open the map tab, used locally for distances to aircraft and drones, never sent to us.
- Map: the map loads tiles from OpenStreetMap (tile.openstreetmap.org); the map library may be loaded from cdnjs (Cloudflare). Their privacy policies apply.
- Firmware: if you use the flasher, the app downloads the ESP-SDR firmware from espargos.net.
- MQTT export: off by default. If you switch it on, decoded results are published to the broker you configure.
- Tips: Ko-fi and PayPal links open those services; their privacy policies apply.
Your rights
